Dreaming
He was dreaming now, dreaming of Tatooine: the twin suns were high in the sky and their heat seemed to rule the land and all its living beings. He was there, lying in the sand, away from his uncle, away from his friends. It was the only way to be free, to dream of new places, about the future with all of its promises and threats.
The warmth of the sand reminded him of the game they were
playing, it was a very old one, but he liked "hide and seek": he loved the thrill of the
hunt, sneaking around without being seen.
He was one of the best, but he couldn't tell the others that.
Someway, from time to time, he could "feel the danger"- other kids approaching. It was
hard even for him to believe.
These "little adventures" surely weren't enough. He was bored and reckless at the same time. And there was always someone saying what was wrong or right for him.
He was tired. The feeling of being in the wrong place, having something more important to do than living, playing, working and growing there was with him again.
"Kids are always this way," His Aunt used to say softly to him each time he tried to explain why he was always involved in some trouble. Maybe she was right.
"Kids are a special gift for the whole galaxy, new hopes for the future." These were other words Aunt Beru told him, looking at him with her gentle , clear eyes. She was always trying to make other people smile ,and she often succeeded in that.
Yet he wanted something more; to be a great pilot, a great warrior...
"War makes no one great!"
These words made the dream burst like a bubble. Now, he was back to reality, back on Dagobah. For a moment he wished the dream was real and Aunt Beru was with him... with her gentle clear eyes.
