The Past Love That Future Brings
Lukes' body rested, but his mind did not. He laid there still, while his unconscious brought a piece of his past into focus. His visions were so real...
He saw himself on Endor. Lying by a tall tree, listening to the quiet sounds, produced by the night. A woman approached, dressed in a simple blue gown; a white shawl about her shoulders.
He couldn't believe his eyes. But her voice, when she spoke warmed his heart.
"Luke," she said softly." It's been a long time."
Luke rose to his feet slowly. "Yes, it has Sara. You haven't changed." He remembered their love, and how it had faded.
"What happened to you, Sara?" Luke questioned, his gaze on her blonde hair. It was as beautiful as he remembered.
"I didn't want to leave you, or Tatooine." Sara replied softly, "But I had no choice. My parents were called for a job in another system, and they wouldn't leave me behind."
Luke took her in his arms, for a tender embrace. "I thought,
I would never see you again."
She smiled at the blue-eyed Jedi dressed in black. "Luke," Sara said stepping back to look at him better. "Well I see you have become a Hero, and a Jedi."
"We, all have our destinies." Luke stated simply.
"Yes, I know." She replied. "I studied herbs, while I was growing up. I become a naturalist; a part of Nature.
They both sat down under the arms of the huge tree.
"How did you find me?" Luke asked, gazing at her.
"I worked on my herbs, and came up with a great idea.

Luke smiled gently, "Well, it looks like your herbs worked. Just how long do we have?"
"As long as the night holds," She replied. "Or till we awaken." Sara hesitated a moment, then looked into his eyes. "The stories I hear of you Luke ... Are you truly a full-fledged Jedi Knight?" She asked softly.
"Yes." Luke replied. "And hopefully I will train many more in the years to come."
"Do you remember, how we use to brag about the future?" Sara asked.
"I sure do" Luke replied, thinking about all the dreaming held done. "I was a true adventure seeker."
"Do you remember, when we first kissed?" She asked
"You were mad at me, for racing through Beggars Canyon with Biggs." Luke smiled. "You used to hate that, but when I kissed you, you forgave me."
Luke, forgetting his Jedi status, reached for her, pulling her closer, he kissed Sara gently. Visions of their youth, and time away from each other passed between them, like pages from a faded diary.
When they parted, Sara looked deep into Lukes eyes. "What will you do know, that the war is over, and your Father freed?" She asked.
Luke took a deep breath before answering. "Start over, where my Father went wrong." He said simply.
"I hope someday, when that happens, we can meet again Luke. Maybe, when we do, you can introduce me to your sister." Sara suggested hopefully.
"My sister." Luke thought of the beautiful Princess, and all that she meant to him. "Sara, there was a time, when I thought I was all alone." He spoke softly, "But now, Leia is my life. I only know that I'm glad I found out the truth; the truth my Uncle tried to hide from me."
"He wanted only the best for you." Sara replied, trying to comfort him.
"Yes, I know." Luke said softly. "He wanted to keep me from having a life, like that of my Father. I just hope he would have been proud of me, if he were here today."
"Luke, they were always proud of you!" Sara replied sharply, feeling the burden of his loss, and wanting to help with it. "They told me, even if you were a dreamer, someday you would get ahead; find your place."
"They said that?" Luke asked. thinking of his Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.
"Yes. They also said I was right for you." Sara reminisced wistfully. "That even though we were being separated, I should remember the times we had, and that we would be together always, in our hearts." Sara looked toward the horizon. "Dawn is near. We must say good-bye." Her voice was filled with sorrow.
"Will I remember this?" Luke asked her concerned.
"Picture me in your heart, Luke." Sara smiled.
"I will always be there." She kissed him gently ....
Luke woke with a jerk. Upon opening his eyes, he heard a voice.
"Luke, I still love you." It whispered, then disappeared.
"Sara."
"Luke? Who's Sara?"
Luke looked up to see his sister's lovely face. He didn't know how long she had been standing in the doorway.
"An old friend of mine," He answered simply,as he pulled on a robe. "Someone I knew years ago."
"Luke, is everything okay?" Leia asked watching him intently.
"I'm fine." He smiled. "Just a dream. So realistic... of a girl I once knew. I don't even know where she is now."
"Well," Leia smiled. "Now that the war is over you should look for her."
Luke, with a shrug, ran his fingers through his hair. "I don't know Leia, it's a big Galaxy out there."
Leia tossed his bundled clothing to him. "I think a Jedi can handle that." She grinned. "Now get a move on. Han has the Falcon ready to go. We have to be on Omega 5 by noon to settle on a new peace treaty."
"I'll be ready in five minutes." Luke promised, hurrying into his clothes, as Leia walked out the door.
Luke Skywalker had no way of knowing who awaited him on Omega 5.
Time, had waited long enough to bring him, and Sara back together. Forever.
That sat high on clouds above.
And with destines ring,
You cannot know what it brings.
But, you can never forget what was past.
Or a Love that will truly last.
And when Time turns that Love away,
Each day. Think of the Other.
And, maybe you will meet again someday.
